The Abbasid era is considered one of the sensitive and decisive periods in Islamic history from political, social, and cultural perspectives, leaving profound and multifaceted impacts on the trajectory of Muslim cultural and religious currents. This era holds significance as a pivotal chapter in the history of Imamate and religious thought due to the emergence of diverse intellectual movements in the field of Quranic exegesis, as well as the spread of corruption and deviation within the Abbasid Caliphate. In this atmosphere, the endeavor to correctly interpret and safeguard the Quran from distortion and arbitrary interpretations was an arduous task, demanding a precise and systematic methodology.
Among those who methodically stood against these various onslaughts, particularly in the science of exegesis, and preserved the interpretive legacy of the Quran, was Imam Hadi (AS). This becomes evident when considering that he was responsible for guiding the community and elucidating the Quran under the oppressive political conditions of the Abbasid Caliphate and under the direct surveillance of rulers like Mutawakkil al-Abbasid, which magnifies the value of his actions. Yet, with innovative strategies and systematic methods in explanation, dissemination, and safeguarding the Quran from distortion and arbitrary interpretations, he played a significant role. This research addresses this matter using a descriptive and analytical approach. The findings reveal that Imam Hadi (AS) employed methods such as Quranic exegesis by the Quran, exegesis by narration, ijtihadi exegesis, clarifying the meanings of the Quran, and the application of comparative interpretation in his approach to Quranic exegesis.
